Drunk driving causes about 10,000 fatalities a year. Texting while driving adds another 4,000 or more deaths each year. Combined, DUI and distracted driving result in over 400,000 accidents every year. Teens are especially at high risk in these accidents.

Shattered Lives is not just a compelling TV Miniseries. It was inspired by the Shattered Lives High School program that began 25 years ago, in Montgomery Texas., by Mike Valdez, working as an assistant district attorney for Montgomery County. He instituted the program in in high schools that quickly grew to include all the high schools in the County. Schools participated by holding events that featured staged car wrecks, with students volunteering to play injured victims. The make up was provided by EMS and was made as realistic as possible. Mike hired Gary Parker, co-founder of the Indie Films Studios, to shoot and edit a short film to showcase the experience of the students featured in the accident. Over half a million students, teachers, and parents have viewed these films over the last 25 years.
The Shattered Lives TV Miniseries tells a fictional story of a group of students involved in a tragic wreck, caused by distracted driving, due to drinking and texting. Distracted driving is not just about teenagers. Accidents are caused by both teenagers and adults. and they can occur in a blink of an eye, any time of day or night.
